Computers in art and design (Website)

Website Research.
BBC.

The BBC have a huge business worldwide, so its not surprising that the website is at such a high quality. With icons leading you to the news, sport, iplayer, weather, radio and useful links for students such as science and art, the website is aimed at all ages, with even a Cbeebies page for children from any ages. The BBC is an educational website, with all the current information and news from around the world but it does also have a link to history.

The website is good for many reasons, its a formal website and looks very professional, but is still pleasing on the eye. Its got s simple structure, but when you click on certain  links its almost as though you get taken to a completely new website, with iplayer for example, you get taken to a complete collection of the TV you might have missed over the past week.

The BBC doesn't have a selling point, its only purpose is to give out information. There only payment people give for the BBC is a TV licence, however there are extra ways the BBBC gets money, if people buy any programmes, DCD ors TV box sets, radio sets ect..
There are no online payments as everything is free to view, as a whole the website is easy to navigate however because there is so much information for so many different topics, such as Bite size for students, the news, radio thats theres so many different purposes on one website that it is easy to get confused. However over all the website is very simple to use, as well labelled and sectioned well.

The font is clear, and easy enough to read and everything has clear headings. Everything loads quickly expect sometimes while waiting to watch something on iplayer it can take up to a few minutes to load.
The BBC have gone for a very basic colour scheme with  mainly black writing on a white background with a few splashes of colour. The basic colours make it very easy to read for everyone, which is good as the BBC have such a wide range of ages viewing the website daily. Any images are all to a good quality and are bigger enough to see, however there are many smaller images when you click to view articles. There are some moving parts of the website, when you are on the homepage you are able to slide across to view more articles, which is helpful as you can easily see everything headlining the news and the most important things on the website without having to click to view anything.

If i was the improve the website i would properly add a bit more colour, or a fun article, as everything is very professional and all to do with learning or business. But i actually really like the BBC website, as theres just so much to look at in almost every main subject around the world. Its such a useful website for revision for students, learning and understanding what current events are happening from around the world.

Vogue.

British Vogue, is a high end fashion website and magazine showing the top of high fashion and models from across the world. The website mainly focuses on up coming trends, but does also have pages for two of the worlds top models, being Kate Moss and Cara Deveingne, which share there best photos and information about to two role models of catwalk and fashion.
The website target audience is for anyone interested in Fashion, however it is a women's magazine/website and doesn't have any articles for men. The only selling point the website is, is to try and encourage people to surcribed  to getting the magazine ordered monthly. They also have many images of fashion photography, trying to show of the latest clothing ranges designers have released.

The only online payment methods are to order the magazine monthly.

As a general view on the website, its a large website with lots of different categorises to do with different styles of fashion. They do also do a style file, focusing on particular celebs who make there impact on the fashion industry. For example they did a spread on Victoria Beckham who has only recently released her own designer brand, which has already been a great success.

The website is very pleasing on the eye, and looks to a really good quality, With a very simple structure and colour scheme being black and white. The website is very easy to use while on the homepage, however if you click onto a link to view when the next fashions shows are, it becomes slightly difficult to return, as theres no clear link too.
All the pages turn over very quickly and all images load to good quality.
Mainly all pages of the website are pleasant to use, however a few could do with a few more images as it looks as though more effort on presentations has gone into some pages more than others.
The font is very clear, and most of the text is actually quite large, they have very clear headings and subtitles, and even all the content is to a good size and is very clear to read. With a simple white background, and no page is over crowed with images it is very easy to focus on the text.
All the images are clear to view and at a very high quality, and you can still click to in large them all.
There isn't patically  any graphic parts of this website, however there are icons that you can slide up or down to view the next article. There isn't much benefit to this, other than the fact you can view the headlines of the different articles without having to leave the one your already viewing.

If i was too improve this website i would make it easier to return back to the homepage, and make each page to the same quality of high presentations as the homepage has, because i personally think some pages look a bit empty, with not many images or content on them. However i do really like this website, it give you a good overall about what the company Vogue is about, and shows some brilliant  photographs of the most recent fashion shows, and covers a wide range of informations about designers and new clothing ranges.

Cliton Photography company.

Clifton photography is a growing company in bristol, which has now just expanded to bath!
Its a very successful photography company which works with people helping them to get there dream photos.

This is a business website, to advertise themselves as a company and what they have to offer.
it says about all the different package deals they do, with family, couple, individual  and pet shoots.
The website is designed mainly for adults, however its a simple website with a good structure and teenagers would also be able to understand and work the website. The only selling product the website has is to book in a studio session, which you cannot do on the website, but it does offer you the contact details so you can call/email to make your appointment.

the website has a link so you can also view your shoot, this is private and you would have to use a reference number that you would receive after your shoot. The website is very pleasing on the eye, and has a strong set on images that greet you on the first page. The structure is simple and very easy to use, even though they do have icon leading you else where the website is fairly small.
They've gone for a creative layout, with all the images in the centre of the page and then the company name smaller and above. All of this images are to an excellent quality and you can choose to enlarge them which is good.

They've choose a strong colour scheme of black and white, which makes all the fonts easy to read, they have chosen a black background with the white font on top though which is fairly unusual.
the only selling point is to book a shoot or order some prints/canvas of your shoot which can only be done using your reference number again. If you choose to view another page within the website, it all loads up very quickly and the campy colour scheme is throughout the whole website.

Its a very professional website, but does still have that small company feel to it, as its only a local team instead of a world-wibe business. I actually really enjoyed looking through Clifton Photography's website, as they have such a strong set of images for each categories of shoot they do and its all presented so well. I cannot find any faults within the website except maybe making the title on the home page a little larger as in my opinion it gets a little lost within all thats going on, however i think this is a really strong website overall.

Bhphotovideo.com

This is website for on online store in NewYork, selling all the best and new camera and electronic equipment. It mainly gives. you information and cameras.
This is a huge website world wide, which is design for people who are looking to buy and trade cameras, camera equipment, studio lighting, underwater cameras, spy cameras, dark room equipment ect.

All pages load up quickly, and to a good standard. The colour scheme is black, white and green. All the text is easy to read and all the titles are clear. The layout is very easy to work, which is surprising for such a big website. There are online payments as the purpose of the website is to selling equtiment world wide.

Vegetarian Society.

The vegetarian Society is a website to help people learn how easy it is to be become a vegetarian nowadays, and how much help there is out there if your struggling with cooking or staying healthy. The Vegetarian society aim to help everyone stay healthily and inform, and has a useful page where vegetarians from across the world can share informations and tips.

The Vegetarian Society is a website designed for helping Vegetarians, learning how to keep healthy, and recipes. It tries to highlight the bonus to becoming a Vegetarian.,The website doesn't really have a selling point, even though is does have an online shop, which is very small and you can order vegetarian books, tops ect. but it does have a side of advertisement to it as they advertise all the latest veggie meals coming out. You can also donate to the Vegetarian society which is the only online payment method the website has.

As a whole, the website is huge, and because its so huge its no limited to a target audience, expect its for anyone with an intrest /living with a vegetarian. Theres so many different thing to look at, with tips on cooking and how to get all the right vitamins.

The website is very pleasing on the eye, and they've chosen a clever colour scheme of green, white and black which really works well together. I personally have no trouble using the website, but if i didn't use computers on a regularly basics then i might find this website a little overwhelming.
All the pages turn over quickly, which is good. However theres isn't much going on, its very factual. I like the fact that the colour scheme is kept the same throughout, its all very enjoyable to use, however its not the most fun website.

The colour green works really well with the website, as the vegetarian logo is green. Everything is easy to read, the title and headers are really well displayed and its very clear. Most of the text is black on a white background, however there are hints of green throughout.

All images are to a good quality and load up quickly. The moving are a few links from youtube that all work well and quickly, and are very informing. I think the website has been design really well, as theres such a strong flow on information on every page. I believe the design suits the purpose really nicely.

The only way i could think of improving the website is to make it a bit more fun, like maybe have some games like true or false on positive facts about being a vegetarian. Other than that though i really like this website, as theres just so much information for you to choice from and its very helpful for anyone who is already and is interested in being a vegetarian.

STA travel.

STA travel is website designed for 18-30 years olds who are planning holidays to go travelling or on holiday. It helps with finding the best deals and trips, the website is huge, with over 50 pages, with over a 1000 trips/destinations to choose from.

Everything about this website is appealing, its got great advertisement and is a world wide organzision! it has many trips to browse through, like trekking through the amazon rain forest or learning how to surf in Australia. The site has a clear logo, which is presented on every page, however the website doesn't have a strong colour scheme, but uses very bright colours.

There are many online payment methods to this website, as you are able to book flights, hotels/hostels and trips directly through the website, but if you feel more comfortable booking in a store, there is page that directs you to the nearest one near you, and there is an STA store at the top of park street. There isn't an moving picture or youtube clips, which i thought was surprising for a website this size.

Everything loads up quickly, and all images are too a good quality. They've chosen a good selection of photographs which are really appealing. All titles are clear and easy to read, and are mainly in a different colour to the rest of the text, even though the text colour does change through out the website. All the prices are displayed in red text, and general text ranges from white to black, when titles are purple or blue mainly. I really like the layout and presentation of this website.
If i was going to change anything about this website, i would make it easier to fine the exact price, as the only fault i have is that the pricing can be a little miss leading.

Yves Marchand.

Yves marchand is a very successful photographer, and his website gives a very professional appearance. With a plain white background, and small black text, it looks very creative. The website is fairly small though, with only a few images of his work, statements and contact details.
Everything loads up very quickly though, and all images are too an excellent standard. the colour scheme and text stays the same throughout,  there only is one main title, and a few subtitles which are links to different pages, and these are present on every single page on the website.
which give the website a really great feel to it. There are no moving picture or video clips.

There aren't any online payment methods on this site, i think the main purpose of the website is to advertise and display his work, which he has done really well. The target audience is anyone interested in photography, or history as a lot of his work is linked with historic ruins and places, which some people fine very interesting.

I really like the website, even though i usually would think its a bit plain i think it works with what Marchand is trying to express, and even though its just black and white mainly it has a very artistic look to it. If i was to improve anything it would be to add a bit more information about himself, as there is only a quote.

Annie leibovitz.

Annie leibovitz is a very successful photography who has a very good relationship with working with celebrities, she's has photographed many famous stars including Vanessa hudgens, Jhonny Depp, Anne hathaway, and Anglina Jolie. She landed an huge deal with disney, to recreate all the disney processes and prices using famous celebs. This was hugely successful.

I'm a real fane of leibovitz work, and i feel her website gives off a really simples but elegance prossfeinal look to it. i really like the simple colour scheme she has used, as it puts all the focus onto her images. All of the images are uploaded to a really good quality. I feel as thought he text size could be a little bigger, as in some places its not the easiest to read, but the colour of the font is good as it keeps in with the simple colour scheme.

the actual design of the website is good, as its so simply laid out that its easy to use and find your way around it. the website doesn't have any online payment methods, and isn't try to sell anything online. It does however have a good online portfolio and contact details.

I feel the only purpose of the river is show of how talented Annie Leibovitz is and advertise her as a photographer.

All of her pages load up quickly and too a good standard. If i was to improve anything on this website it would be to maybe have units of her work displayed, but other than this i feel it is a really strong website over all.

Peter beard.

peter beard is known for photographing in african wildlife.
He has a very old fashioned website, with a unusual colour scheme of cream red and black. The font size is good, and it clear to read. However the colour scheme isn't the most appealing, i personally would of chosen a different one, but this could of been fashionable at the time his website was made.

He has a few links leading to his work, but the layout is out of date and it takes a couple seconds for the next page to load. Also he doesn't have many images to a good size, but the quality is still good and there all clear.

the website has a lot of content. It doesn't however have any selling point or any online payment methods, i feel the purpose of the website is just to advertise peter breads work and access to his contact information.
I feel that this website should included more images to make it more interesting, as its not the most enjoyable to use. i also think that the titles and heading could of been displayed better, but they are still clear to read. Overall i'm not to fond of this website, but i mainly feel its because its so out of date.

Ronnie and Rose photography.

Ronnie and rose are a small photography company, although they have a very big website. The website is very up to date, with lots of images displayed on every page which are all to a really good quality. The website has lots of links that take you to different pages, the colour scheme suits the website well, as its mainly back and white but as the website is so busy it would be over welding having a harsh colour scheme on top.

The text is all a good  size and clear and easy to read, as a whole to website is really easy to use and find your way around. there are no online payment methods on this site, there is however a form you can submit to book an appointment for a photography shoot.

The purpose of this website is to advertise themselves and all the work they do, the y have many of there own images displayed across this webpage. i feel that this a good strong website as it all works well and comes together nicely.
Everything loads up quickly to a good quality.

Html.

This is where i learnt the basics of how to create a webpage and display
and images on there.

It started with actually making the web code.

Then we started then creating the titles and learning how to create spaces and paragraph.

We had to insert different codes to make this possible.

this is how it looked after we had created in into a webpage, with the title and subheading.

we then continued to add to are website.

Wireframes.

Here are my wireframes that i've design for ideas for my own website.
i decided to go for simple designs. I thought the title in the centre of the page, and the links below.
I feel like my own photographs should be displayed in the middle of the page. I also want a simple colour scheme to keep things looking tidy and professional.

I liked this one as i feel a simple background gives more focus on the images and titles.
I didnt want to have a cluttery website where people find it hard to use, i want a simple design and structure so its easy for people of all ages to use and view my images.

I feel as though my photographs are the most important thing on my website so i wanted people to be able to see them straight away, so i thought doing a collage as the main page would be an interesting way of displaying my images. Obviously i would still have an online portfolio where people can view units of work that i have done.

Artist website.

First you have to open up dreamweaver and save some files to your computer.
once you've done that you have to set up your basic set, including your site name.
Once this is done you have to open up a file and check that all the details are correct, and then press create.

Once youve created a new blank webpage, you need to check the size at the bottom of the page.

and make sure its 955x600.

After you've created your first webpage, you will need to save it. After calling it index.html.

Give your website a title, i choose to call my 'the great artist.'
You now need to start creating tables.
For every column you need to put in different height and widths.

After you have finished merging centern columns together, you should end up with this.

After this you need to select the boxes on the left hand side and right the names of each artist in.

After you've done this you need to go and change the text, colour and background.

After it should look like this.

after going onto the settings and and changing all the text so it appears as a titles.

after this

you need to select the text and give them a link, which isthere name with index on the end. For example 'Turner.index.

After this all the artist names should come up as links.

After you have done this you need to save all the artist names as indavisuls webpage.

fort example.
you then need to open up all the webapges together by double clicking them all.
you will see all the indavisals web linksat in the top bar.
you now need to insert a memory stick and save your artist website to it, and then save it incase you loose your work.
After this you can start adding the images into your website.
you have to click on the main square in the middle of the webpage, then go to insert, image and from the file youve saved to the desktop you can insert the artists work.
You then have to repeat this for every artists page.
This is how your website should be looking about no, you get the chance to open it up on sarfrai for a preview.
After you have done this you have to start inserting the text, which you have to open up from the file. Copy and then paste it into the last column, you then need to change the text size for 24 to 12.
After this you need to create a subheading, for each artists name.
Once all the text has been added to each indivals webpage, with all the subheadings done you can now start uploading all the rest of the artist work.

You will see on the right hand side of the dreamweaver page a box, inside there will be your folder with all you images in. One at a time you can start selecting these images and dragging them down to the bottom of your artists page.

This is quite time consuming, but after a while you'll image will start to fill up the webpage.
You will have to repeat this for every artist.

My website

Evaluation.

I haven't really enjoyed doing this unit, as i found the website hard and stressful to create. On a bonus i now have a website and have learnt a lot on the process of making it, and gain skills and experience in dreamweaver that i didn't have before. I feel this unit has been helpful, and I've gain many skills from it, however i wouldn't like this do this again. I think the most enjoyable was actually seeing my finished website. The thing i struggled most with was the artist webiste for some reason i just kept making mistakes.
